Such a Great Start to a Weekend

It all started Tuesday. Davy woke up with a cold (runny nose, mostly). Then Tuesday night, Joe said he was starting to feel sick. Then he stayed home from sick Wednesday with a fever and cough. Wednesday night Davy had what seemed to be a random vomiting episode. The positive part? He didn't vomit on me. It seemed to be all breast milk, and he didn't seem phased by it. He also had a fever. And a cough.

Continue on to Thursday, everyone had the same thing. Except no vomiting.

Joe had a doctor's appointment, non-illness related, Friday morning. It turns out though that he has strep throat. He was worried Davy had it too, and since I woke up this morning with a sore throat and my ears had been bothering me since Wednesday, I had to go in too. So we paid two co-pays, waited 50 minutes in the general waiting room, then waited another 30 minutes in the examination room. Davy let me wear him on my back in the waiting room, but I had to be weighed when we went back so he was off my back and of course wanted to explore the examining room. He weighs 27 lbs. He hasn't eaten solids in several days (just nursing) and I even put him in a disposable diaper so it should be an accurate weight. But the final result? Neither Davy nor I have strep throat.

Except then Friday around 8 PM Davy threw up all over me. And it was a traumatic experience for him this time. Following this, Davy and I slept downstairs on the floor. Around 10, Davy seemed a little hot and I was sleepy so I thought it was his fleece sleeper and being right next to me (and under a blanket). So I stripped him to his diaper. Well, he slept ok for a little while. But around 12 AM, he woke up and felt really hot. Davy was sleepy, so I couldn't get an accurate under arm temperature. The ear temp was over 100. I took it several times and got a different result each time (super frustrating) that varied from 99 to 101.7. I think it was more towards the high end. I had given him Tylenol before he vomited (15 minutes or so before), so I hadn't wanted to give him any more at 10 PM since I didn't know what he had kept down. But it was late enough at midnight that he could have more. It has seemed to help. He went back to sleep immediately, but I stayed up to make sure he cooled down and didn't have trouble.

Uggh. So Saturday ought to be fun. Joe's still sick. Davy's sick. I have a cough and my ears hurt. But at least I am fever free.
