We have been sleeping downstairs lately, which usually means I sleep on the floor and Davy is on the couch. I think it started when Davy was struggling with his teeth at the end of July, and we just kept doing it because he slept better in the early evening if I was around. Even if I was cleaning and not right next to him. The Olympics exacerbated the situation. How could I go to sleep upstairs when the Olympics were on? So it continued. I finally had enough though, so I tried to get him to sleep in his room, but he kept going to the door and repeatedly (and in varying levels of urgency in his voice) saying "door" and "out."
After I finally gave in and realized he wasn't going to sleep, we went back downstairs. Since I had just finished the dishes, he decided it would be fun to play at the sink. So I moved his learning tower over so he could play in the water and generally make a mess. Apparently that wasn't good enough. I caught him trying to crawl on the sink trying to reach something behind the faucet.
He kept playing for a long time, until he got very wet. Then he'd had enough (plus he was tired) and was ready to go to bed. Unfortunately, we ended up on the couch again. But at least he slept.
