On again, off again.

So now we're not moving. At least it looks that way. I think what really made us reconsider was someone in the loop behind us lost their house. I saw the sale in the Sunday paper. We think they lost their house at least. It was listed as sold to a bank for a lot less than it should have been. Probably around 30-70k less. It would be one more house on the market that we would be competing with, and it's impossible to keep up with houses whose owners/banks are taking losses. Plus that baby gate at the entrance to the great room would have to come down. Life without a gate to keep Davy from the stairs would be unbearable. And dangerous.

Another factor was the green car sold. We don't need to worry about a car on the street anymore. We have all our cars in the driveway now. And "all" is back to 3. Which is enough. The van is on the sidewalk, but if anyone says anything, well, they better not. The HOA would be the ones upset at least. Not the police. So that's an improvement.

So if you see a bright green Hyundai Tiberon, it isn't Joe. The sale was amazingly easy. Joe had mentioned to a friend of his that he was selling the car. This was back in January. Yes, JANUARY. The friend called late Saturday afternoon (3 months later) asking if Joe still had the car. We shouldn't have still had the car really. I'm surprised the friend thought we still had it. Then again, he knows Joe so probably figured he wouldn't have done anything with it yet. So the friend came over last night with his dad. Test drove the car, decided to buy it, and came back for it this afternoon. And we got the blue book value, which I think was more than we could have gotten if we sold it to a dealer.

I still am cleaning and getting rid of things that are superfluous. Like a desk or two. I've counted, and we have 7 desks. Davy has two: an old fashioned school desk I bought before he was born and an "easel" table from Pottery Barn (from my mom). Then I have two: my grandma's desk and a desk that was my dad's. And Joe has two: his grandfather's desk and his great-uncle's desk. Plus the computer desk we bought and haven't put together (again, because I was sick). Obviously we like hand-me-downs. This doesn't even count tables we are using as desks. Add another two to the list. I have someone to take one desk off my hands. My sister is taking one of mine. And I might give the easel thing back to my mom.
