Happy Birthday Davy!

My sweet, crazy little boy is one today!

He had a pretty normal day. We had lunch with Grandma Sheridan & her friend. He ate a lot of chicken tender, a few fries, some bread & other random things from Grandma's plate. Then he went shopping at Kroger, where he refused to give up and fall asleep. Davy rode around on my back, and he kept looking at people, smiling, talking and laughing. And in between he was drowsy. Ten minutes after getting in the car, he was asleep. He proceeded to sleep for 2 1/2 hours! Davy continued to sleep even after I moved him from the van (an hour into the nap) and through a phone call. Very unusual for him. Most naps are 1 1/2 hours; even if he doesn't get both naps he won't sleep longer than that.

Grandma Rankin came by after her school let out to visit and gave Davy a present. It's a Little Tyke's dump truck with a handle on the back so Davy can push it or carry it around. We also watched a couple of videos on her computer. She had taken some videos of Davy the day after he was born. Mostly Joe and I were supposed to be fixing it so she could make copies of her videos onto a DVD. But we were distracted by a small baby.

Davy had chicken again for dinner, along with bananas and green beans. And half a slice of homemade bread. He had to have dessert since it is his birthday. So he had a chocolate cupcake. No icing. And he ate almost the entire thing. Crumbs everywhere.

Cute things:

  • Davy knows how to drink from a pop can. He carries an unopened one around and pretends to open it and drink from it.
  • He still loves climbing on the back of the couch and messing with the light switches (lots of light-flickering and the ceiling fan keeps "mysteriously" turning on). After I moved the couch a little so he wouldn't fall off trying to get to the light switches, he discovered he can also reach the thermostat. For some reason he likes to stand on the end table too.
  • Yesterday he decided to start giving open-mouth kisses.
  • I taught him how to go down the stairs finally two days ago. I think he might already have known how, but I wasn't brave enough to let him.
  • Everything has its place. At least according to Davy. He loves putting things inside other things. Sometimes the remote belongs inside the gate around the TV. Other things get dropped back there too. And his little animals live in a large bucket he plays with.
  • Davy knows how to use the remote. All remotes. He points them at the TV and changes the channels.
